Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Transporting clients to scheduled appointments & visits, programming, etc.
  • Successful applicants ideally will have relevant experience and/or education in this area.
  • Monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities; interact with the families to enhance their learning and development during their stay at the Safe House
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and assist clients
  • Promoting positive parenting to parents and caregivers
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager ie. light cleaning, cooking, serving snacks, etc.
  • Assist program coordinator in implementation of programming
  • On a rotational basis, answer phone calls to determine the eligibility and appropriateness of such referrals as required.
  • Supervise, assess, and document visits within the Safe House
  • Ensure that all client contact information and agency business is always kept confidential

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to do shift work including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Minimum Grade 12 with interest to receive additional training
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with driver’s abstract
  • Must submit recent Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector’s check
  • Previous experience working with children would be a definite asset
  • Must have good writing skills & be detail oriented, as incident reports & daily logs need to be recorded.
  • Must live an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle; random drug-screens will be performed for staff
  • Applicants are to have no family services involvement within the last two years.
